Projects

Theme Thursday for this week is “projects”.
My problem with projects is that I enjoy doing way to many things. I always want to do too much. Now with a new baby I don't have much time at all until the kids go to bed at night and by then I'm exausted. I remember the days when I use to sew. ALOT!. I sewed children's clothing and sold it on ebay. I miss those days a tiny bit. I don't miss the long hours but I miss completing so many projects! There is a sense of accomplishment that comes from the whole process - starting with a design in my head to sending it off in the mail!
This week I did accomplish some small projects.

First of all I've been learning to knit and I've been practicing the cable stitch. I finished this small pillow this week and it now sits on my bed :)

The second thing I finished was this baby toy ball!! IT IS UGLY AND SO FUNNY!!! When I first saw the idea for this I thought it would be SO CUTE. I don't know why I couldn't see how awful it really would be. My husband and I have been laughing at it so hard since I finished it. He told me I should cut it apart and use the stuffing for something else. Instead I think I'll keep it around and let the boys use it as a boxing glove hee heee. I don't know what is more dissappointing - wasting the fabric or wasting my precious time on it. oh well, It hasn't been my first disaster and I'm sure it won't be my last.

As far as photography projects go, I've been spending the last few months reading and practicing how to use my flash better. I've trying to get more serious about taking my photography up a notch so I can make a little more $ at it. Last month I was asked to take pictures at a wedding and then that job landed me another wedding shoot. I was able to upgrade to a much much nicer lens and hopefully soon to a better camera. I don't necessarily want to become a wedding photographer, but it has been good experience and eye opening to what I need to work on!
A photography project I accomplished this week was a self portrait :).

I'm not sure why you think your baby ball is a disaster. The pictures sure make it look cute and it seems to interest the little one and that's the most important part. :) Your knitted pillowcase is beautiful. I hope your knitting project continue just as beautifully.

I think your baby ball looks cute! I don't think it looks like a disaster at all. I love your knitted pillow, it looks really pretty. One of these days I'd like to learn to knit.

I love the pillow!

And I'm with Leah and Stacy... the ball is not a disaster at all. How does your little one like it?

Wish I were crafty enough to not have ALL disasters :)

Ok the ball isn't neccesarily a "disaster" it is just a really weird thing!! The baby can't even grasp the huge sections.
It has been a target of much laughter this week :)

I absolutely love your pillow. It is gorgeous. I tried knitting several years ago and hated, but I think I would enjoy it now. I am WAY more patient. You are so talented!!!

I love that pillowcase. And obviously the baby ball makes the baby happy and gives you and your husband good laughs every time you look at it; so that sounds like win-win to me! Not too disastrous at all!

It's not ugly - you did a great job and I'm sure your baby appreciates it at least! :) Your pillow also turned out great!

I love your pillow. My mom is a huge knitter and she has been trying to teach me how, but I just can't seem to grasp it. I learned to crochet when I was a kid and I still love that, so maybe that's why knitting for me just seems too awkward and complicated. I'm impressed.

I love the pillow !! I am learning how to knit as well. Last night though, I dropped a stitch and can't figure out how to fix it ! I pulled a couple of rows out back to when it was right, put the scarf back on the needles and it was backwards !! Grrrrrr ..... I'll be glad when i've been knitting for a few more years and actually know what I'm looking at so I can fix it !!!

Girl...I am exhausted just reading your post! How do you get stuff done with a baby?? I feel like I am just digging myself out enough to attempt some crafts and the girls are 5 and 3!!

I love the pillow...it is a terrific first knit project!

Carrie, you should see my house when I'm getting projects done!!! It's a mess anyways but with projects going on IT'S WORSE!

I think the ball is great! Very cute. Does it have little jingle bells inside?

The pillow is also beautiful. I love the colors. I've always wanted to learn how to knit, but not interested in taking the time to learn. Perhaps I'll give it a few more years.

Thanks for commenting on my Theme Thursday photo. Sorry I didn't come by sooner, but my computer died!

Anyway, I LOVE your sewing projects! I think the baby ball is so cute! I'd totally give something like that to my 6 month old. :)

Kuddos to you making money with your photography. I have to admit; I'm too afraid of disappointing my friends to even try doing photos for them.
